Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Data Privacy Director who will provide support and guidance to HA Group’s Privacy Officer, Marketing Personnel, Human Resources, Legal and IT resources and others as needed while working closely with the Global Privacy team to ensure compliance with the corporation’s Global Privacy Standards, applicable regulations and business requirements for Holland America Line, Seabourn and Princess Cruises. This position reports to the Director of Insurance and Risk Management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management, Legal, Marketing, IT, Human Resources and other affected departments to develop and continuously improve upon a comprehensive privacy program consistent with relevant laws and regulations including but not limited to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation and maturing Asia operations

  • Define, draft and coordinate implementation of policies and processes that enable effective privacy practices that meet Carnival Corporation Global Privacy Standards

  • Communicate the company’s policies and procedures to employees and business partners through training and awareness activities

  • Coordinate with senior management, Legal, IT, Human Resources, ABG and other business functions to establish a recognized and accepted privacy governance structure within the multi-brand HA Group organization

  • Advise business units regarding compliance with company privacy policies and procedures

  • Oversee privacy program risk assessments and resulting mitigation and remediation plans

  • Collaborate with business units to ensure that new privacy requirements are considered and during the design phase of new technology, promotional and service initiatives

  • Evaluate and improve upon processes for receiving, documenting, investigating and reporting unauthorized access or disclosure of protected information

  • Develop and apply corrective action as needed in response to complaints concerning the organization’s privacy policies and procedures

  • Prepare and present clear, accurate and timely communication and reports on privacy risks, metrics, and compliance activities to senior management

  • Manage maintenance of relevant records to demonstrate compliance with Carnival Corporation Global Privacy Standards

    Requirements

  • Specific privacy consulting experience , Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designation preferred, JD applicants welcome

  • 5 or more years’ experience in the management of data privacy within a multinational environment

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. and European privacy laws, regulations and best practices

  • Demonstrated ability to define and implement comprehensive compliance programs in complex organizations

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems in creative, efficient and cost effective ways

  • An ability to develop professional presentations, reports and business correspondence

  • A strong knowledge of standards, laws, and regulatory environment and the impact these have on the administration of an effective compliance program

  • A strong reputation for integrity and ethics

  • Ability to respond effectively and discretely to sensitive inquiries or complaints

  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office including knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint

  • Ability to solve complex problems through strategic prioritization of competing interests

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • An ability to work collaboratively and successfully in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams;
