IT Procurement & Logistics Specialist

The Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated IT Procurement & Logistics Specialist who will be the facilitator of IT hardware purchases for test and production in the Holland America Group’s fleet of vessels. You will also be responsible for receiving, consolidating and shipping hardware to fleet destinations with consideration to cost.

  • Act as IT hardware provider for the fleet and shoreside IT environments:

  • Monitor, evaluate, and react to incoming hardware requests from the fleet

  • Provide input and assist in hardware requests generated by new-builds and new IT projects

  • Seek quotes and hardware solutions for requests as needed

  • Process quotes and requests to the purchasing department for procurement through PO with approved vendors

  • Assist in sourcing and getting new vendors approved as hardware needs evolve and demand

  • Receive, consolidate, and ship hardware out to fleet destinations with considerations to costs, need, and destinations

  • Track and ensure shipments reach the vessel

  • Work with Fleet Superintendents to ensure all hardware requests are approved and in line with needs and budget

  • Maintaining an in-house inventory for rapid deployment of key hardware items

  • Work with current and future vendors to source, evaluate, and purchase most fleet IT equipment:

  • Maintaining relationships with key account representatives

  • Anticipating and monitoring model changes and new technology as it relates to existing and upcoming fleet hardware needs

  • Seeking new vendors when needed and helping to get them approved with our accounting department

  • Coordinating with vendors for key deliveries; e.g. expedited requests, direct to vessel shipments, etc.

  • Procuring and returning test/loan devices for in house evaluation

  • Source, establish and implement hardware repairs as needed by:

  • Evaluating which devices are worth repair

  • Setting guidelines and advising for repair items to be offloaded from vessels to repair center or home office

  • Sourcing repair centers and coordinating repairs by either PO or Non-PO invoices

  • Ensuring repaired items are returned to production

  • Facilitate urgent requests by approved P-card purchases:

  • Identifying when this procedure is required, due to urgency, cost, delivery timings, and product availability

  • Make purchase and arrange delivery using corporate credit card (P-card)

  • Archive and provide receipts and coding for purchases made to IT Admin for expense reporting

  • Maintain hardware historical data via:

  • Creating, updating, and maintaining request records in the SNOW ticket system and interoffice shared drive

  • Keeping relevant historical information on special projects and new builds for future reference

  • Work with other Carnival brands and CapGem teams to improve and amend SNOW ticketing process as needed to better support fleet needs

  • Act as an information resource for the IT and other departments in regards to hard logistics; providing details and advice when needed for fleet deliveries, contacts, and timings


  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT logistics and/or IT procurement

  • Ability to lift/maneuver equipment and boxes weighing 25lbs (occasionally up to 40lbs) on a daily basis

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend invoices, contracts, correspondence, budgets, and memos

  • Strong skills in time management, handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, timely written communication and meeting deadlines

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as with others in a team environment

  • Proficient Windows operating system computer skills, including MS Word and Excel

  • Ability to travel up to 5% both domestically and internationally


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Prior experience in maritime logistics

  • Background in or general knowledge of information technology hardware

  • Ability to type 50+ wpm
