Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Staff Accountant . This position reports to the Sr. Staff Accountant.

Holland America Group operates a combined total of 41 cruise ships with 36,000 employees worldwide. This position will be located in our Santa Clarita office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledgers and prepare monthly financial statements and various monthly analytics on a timely basis

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries

  • Monitor systems for compliance with procedures and revise policies and procedures as necessary

  • Reconcile related balance sheet accounts and identify and resolve any discrepancies

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial information related to Ship Operating expenses. This will include journal entry and invoice preparation

  • Assist in performing SOX tests as it pertains to area of responsibility for assurance of the controls surrounding the process

  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with Policies and SOX guidelines

  • Perform other duties as assigned

    Requirements

  • B/A or B/S in Accounting or equivalent experience

  • Candidate must possess the ability to work with minimal supervision and have a take-charge personality

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel a must

  • Ability to work in MS Access, Word, and Visual Basic a plus

  • Ability to work well with individuals at all levels
